Day 4

Need to do a better job of getting in 2 quality hours... I've only averaged an hour per evening and I know I can reasonably fit in 2 hrs.

Today, I did 2 hours, covering MGMAT Strategy Guide #1 (Number Properties)
- Pretty much whizzed through the basic chapters and will start tackling the Advanced Strategy chapters tomorrow (where I will require more study time, as I know the basics)

However, a few helpful things I did pick up from the basic chapters were:
1) Rules around consecutive even and odd integers - thought process and explanation around how to categorize these questions types was new for me

2) Factors/multiples : A concept I've struggled with - it's not hard, but I need to get better at re-phrasing the question and putting it into a theoretical context of content that I've studied.

Heading to bed now, with a determination to do 2 quality hours tomorrow. Viva la GMAT!

  1. Hi there gmat gal,
You are keeping up well with plan so far, proud of you!

As for me, I do have a full time job, where in I have to stare at a monitor for 9 hours straight.
I'm just trying to pack as much as I can into the schedule so I can be ready for gmat in 7 weeks..

so this is how my Day 4 went yesterday

    - Woke up late - at 9! (An extremely bad thing to do) @#$!@$#%#$%
    - No time to study in the morning, Got to work late, but I still took my afternoon pill of practicing math, did 14th table and did some 50 additions, I don't need to waste time on elementary math, but during my elementary math I realized that all the places I went wrong was because of my absent minded additions! as disconcerting as that sounds, I'm not giving up hope on quant.
    - So, I was late by the time I got back home, cooking, washing dishes, while watching season premier of 'the office' and 'outsourced' couldn't miss it for the world. No time for RC's :(
    - By the time I sat down to study it was already 11, I quickly did half of the CR chapter, 20 questions, in 40 min and 20 min to check my answers, the questions were very simple but I still went wrong with about 6 questions - very silly analysis on my part. Was sleepy by 12 and got to bed at 12:30 hoping to wake up at 6.

Today, I did wake up at 6 but I snoozed for 3 hours straight!, got to work late. Planning to take off for the rest of the day so I can go work on CR and RC's. Want to prepare for the test.

The reason I'm taking a test every week is that it keeps me up on my toes, last week, which was my first test, I scored 520, which gave me a good idea of where I am, what I know and what I need to know. During this week, I solved chapters concerning DS, basic math, problem solving, CR and hopefully SC if I get it done today. Now if in tomorrows test, If I find myself at the same 520 score or lower, I clearly need to step down a level more to clear up my basics and if I get a higher score then I can continue to proceed forward. I think the test puts your prep to perspective and encourages you to work harder. That's just my opinion, works for me. I'm already feeling the jitter of writing the test tomorrow.. will be taking up the kaplan practice test, I've heard that its an easy test, now if I don't score well after reading the entire week, I'll certainly be disappointed.

    Keep rocking the gmat girl!

  2. Hi GMAT gal, I had typed up an entire comment but ran into a 'URI too long' error while posting it, gave up and decided to post it to my own blog instead. Check it out http://gmatnuts.blogspot.com/
